Imagine if Edge of Tomorrow was a 4 hour movie that never got to the exciting parts. Even by SciFi world-building standards the origin part of the novel drags. The actual time traveling segments are rote and repetitive. The "dual perspective" doesn't result in any climactic payoff and the ending feels like the story limping off to take a nap.

Harper Audio.
I really loved this, and stayed up way too late finishing it last night. It's an interesting premise and an engaging story. The narration was well done, even in parts where the nature of what was being narrated (records in a file) didn't lend themselves to it.

Not the same kind of seamless world as Stephenson's solo novels, but still with some of the fun, slightly unnerving (and more fun for it) perks.

A really fun read! I enjoyed this book tremendously! It manages to be fast paced, intelligent, and funny. The narrative is a patchwork quilt of journal entries to email communication to government hearings and formal letters. The writing style keeps the story moving between present day and various iterations of the past. Many quirky and very interesting characters and voices. I highly recommend this book!

3.5/5

4.5 Stars. I loved it. I kinda wish there was a sequel but it was one of the best time travel/stand alones I have ever read.
