Good writing, good imagination, good story set up, but poor execution.

It’s an adventure romance story between a god and a female teen.  I got hooked after a few 1st pages.  She writes outdoor scenes well. It’s like I was there, on the streets, with all the smells, sounds and feels.  There are several good quotes about words, stories, myths and how they are part of the human experience.  I learned a bit more about each Mexico city they travelled to.  FMC is strong and defiant. 

I wish that sides characters could be a bit more cunning: like the demon, and the seductress…it’s also too easy to them to get the items they were looking for.  They just showed up, spoke a few words and got them. What bothers me is that the big bother god knew that the younger bother god is cunning, and yet, he just follows the trail that the younger bro laid out and ultimately has zero plan at the end.  I wish there is more to the MMC.  The mightiest of him is also never shown or felt. He doesn’t do anything and the FMC does everything.  It’s more of a story about her, how she develops after this adventure. 

The ending is rushed.  People change lighting fast.  The younger bother god did all of this, only to give up easily at the end. The younger bother calls for the quest at the end makes no sense, like the author really needs FMC to go through this, but does not know how to get her there.  Wish the romance is … felt more between the characters. 

The unlikely friendship formed at the end was good and fun.

the setting & concept was super exciting to me, but the actual story wasn’t that great. it’s mostly bogged down by an entirely unnecessary love story. still a fun and fast read.
