Every once in a while you stumble across a book that makes you stop and think. Society has us conditioned to believe that men are strong and women are often victims that need rescuing. Authors have a tendency to portray women similarly at times. However, I love when you find a strong kick ass lead character that can not only support herself but actually rescues the male character in a way.
Tessa works for the Navy in Virginia. She has made a life for herself away from her family and often doesn’t see them. In fact the only thing she wanted was to get away. “If I stayed back home, I would have ended up a loser. The Navy was my ticket out of that small town.” She has a select handful of friends who she has let into her inner circle. This group of friends is her “nucleus”. Without them she wouldn’t function especially her best friend Marshall. Marshall is the peanut butter to her jelly and while they may drive each other crazy at times he is everything that she needs in life or so she thinks. “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
When life gets a little crazy for Hunter, Marshalls twin brother, and his spunky daughter Sawyer they move to Virginia to live with him.
Hunter and Tessa have instant chemistry with sparks flying like fireworks. Tessa has always avoided relationships because of her Navy deployments so now she needs to decide if this is something she wants out of life. Will she need to sacrifice her career for everything that she that she used to laugh at? Can she become an “insta-mom” to a sweet little girl?
J.C. Does a great job at taking you on Hunter and Tessa's journey. I loved everything about this book. The relationships, the friendships, and the humor! I had so many different emotions while reading this book and felt like I was right there most of the time. This is a book that you will want to read.

This was a good read. I'm a fan of reading romance military women. There isn't much character development and I thought the characters are pretty one dimensional. I like Hunter and adore his little girl, Sawyer. There's a little baby mama drama, but nothing too crazy. Tess didn't do relationships until she met Hunter. She's forward and speaks her mind. But once she got in deep with Hunter, Tess turned into a big softy and cries a lot. There's a lot of amazingly hot and steamy sex scenes too. Over all good read and great writing.
A career woman who only wants a fling and a single dad who won't settle for anything less than forever, add in the unpredictable biological mother of a wonderful little girl and you know its going to be a good book.
JC Santo does not disappoint, and I for one cannot wait for the next release in this series and all subsequent ones!

This is the first book I read by JC Santo, and from the beginning I started to fall for her characters. They are real, not overly done, and could be anyone you know. I also like the style of writing. Hunter and Tessa have an instant chemistry that becomes a problem for one and not the other. LOL. If you want to know what happens, you need to read for yourself. I will also say that the supporting characters only add to the story instead of distracting from it.

I received this book for an honest review.
This was my first book by this author and it looks like her debut, well done it completely kept me glued to my kindle.
Tessa aka "sailor girl" who is in the Navy and a totally independent career woman meets Hunter and his young daughter and falls head over heels.
I'm going to admit I didn't like her in the beginning of the book but as time went on and the character was fleshed out I finally felt a connection. I loved the interaction, chemistry and bantering between the couple and the child. By the last chapters I was teary eyed and loving the ending that was unfolding. I'm so pleased to see at the end of the book there will be a second involving the other characters as I want to know what happens to them.
For lovers of romance I highly recommend this book.

Hunter Stevenson is the exact opposite of Tessa. He is raising his 4 year old daughter, Sawyer on his own and moves to be closer to his dad and his brother, Marshall. Marshall is Tessa's very best friend.
I really loved the twist that Tessa was the player and Hunter was the 'grounded' one. You normally don't read that in books.
Tessa gets drunk one night and tries to hook up with Hunter. He has no interest in having a casual relationship.
Through out the book Hunter is trying to show Tessa that they are meant for more than casual. Throw in Marshall who has been trying to secretly set these two up for years and Sawyer, who is an absolute doll!
I can't say enough good things about this book. I actually read it straight through because I was sucked into the story and couldn't put it down. I loved all the characters and their exchanges. This is a very well written book. Looking forward to Book 2
