Sugary sweet and deliciously sexy! Maren Moore sensationally sparkles in this best friend's brother, single dad hockey heartfelt romance. Swoony feels, quirky fun, charming chemistry, and loads of steam- it's totally pucking adorable!
Newspaper Nanny fans rejoice- REED is here! And he's hands down my favorite Maren Moore hero to date. As the result of unexpected and tragic circumstances, Reed finds himself the newly minted single dad to precious little Evan. But his bachelor lifestyle isn't the only barrier to this new challenge- Reed's full time hockey career keeps him busy, and the road, more than ideal, especially when trying to form a relationship with sweet little Evan. Serendipitously, he knows his sister's best friend is in need of some extra income- and he soon discovers she's a bit of an Evan-whisperer, second only to Pickles the octopus, of course, so she's the perfect travel companion for baby Evan. Only challenge is that he's recently started to see the luscious Holland in a more than friendly way- and little does he know, Holland has crushed on him since childhood. But Reed's a player, in more ways than one, and his sister Emery might not take too kindly to these two canoodling. But now that they're spending lots of time together- and a delicious arrangement is born.
Reed is everything I wanted as more. We got the level headed, charismatic, affable man we saw in NN, but we also get a man with complex layers and some really well written character growth. Confronting some of his own baggage while learning to be an unexpected father sparks some really wonderful introspection- we see Reed rethink his priorities and desires, and we see him let go of some past pains. All catalyzed by his love for Evan, and his burgeoning feelings for Holland. AND HE IS SO DREAMY, Y'ALL!! Kind, fun-loving, generous, and compassionate. He has a big ole heart- and anytime we see him bonding with Evan I felt my ovaries exploding. But its his connection with Holland that had the pages turning- these friends turned secret lovers that enchanted me completely.
Holland is everything I love in a book heroine. She's kind, gentle, a bit sassy, and very loving. She blossoms in this story- finds her voice, learns to prioritize herself and trust in others, and she truly shines as a heroine. Her journey is quieter than Reed's, but not less meaningful, and I simply ADORE her.
Their chemistry is so sweet- and with the right dash of heat. Reed's got a dirty mouth- AND I AM HERE FOR IT. But I also loved how they opened up their hearts to each other, and gently evolved their relationship into something more intimate emotionally. Their banter and flirtation is both charming and authentic, and I just swooned and sighed left and right at their cuteness. And, the drama is pretty low angst- so you just feel good.
Maren has really hit her stride - and it's clear the Totally Pucked series is going to be a new favorite. Swoony alpha hockey stars and the sassy but vulnerable heroines that enchant them? I NEED ALL OF THEM! Sweet, sincere, and feel-good romantic magic. Maren reminds us love comes where we least expect it- but when you find it, well, change on the fly- and dive right in. Because nothing is as sweet.

Holland and Reed were very cute. This is a classic bffs brother romance and even though most of the central plot is pretty far fetched (childcare, nanny, and legal custody stuff) the consistent chemistry made it hard to care. I definitely enjoyed this book even though its pretty short.

Super fun and quick. Let’s not think too deep into the hockey player romance. Smut and romance and a little bit of single dad/guardian fluff.
