Holland has been in love with her best friend's brother since she was a young girl, but has kept her infatuation a secret because she didn't want to hurt her friend. Since her friend's brother is famous hockey star, she's had people use her to get to him in the past.

Reed and his sister were raised by their mother after their father left them when he was eight. Reed hasn't spoken to his father since he left, but one night gets a phone call from him because his half-sister was killed and her son needs a guardian.

Needing help because the season is about to start, Reed hires Holland to travel with him to care for his nephew, and they eventually start a relationship.

While the writing isn't bad, I had a lot of problems with this book. First of all, it's really just a cheesy cliche-fest. It feels as if the author had a checklist for all the components of every romance troupe she used and made sure to include each one whether they were necessary to the plot or not. And there are a lot of troupes in this book - MC in love with their best friend's brother, single dad dating the nanny, FWB that turns into a relationship, childhood crush, etc...... frankly, it was just way too much.

Added to that, Reed's lines about love and relationships are so freaking cheesy!!! No man would speak this way, I'm sorry. It felt like a really really bad Hallmark movie most of the time. The cringe was very strong in this one.

In the end, the characters felt so flat and lifeless because there wasn't anything to them besides cliches. Of course Holland was the poor girl who wouldn't accept Reed paying for anything, while working all the time to pay for her father's medical bills (these types of characters are always caring for ill family members

Both MCs are super cute. Love them together. I didn't realize this story has the whole keep our relationship from the sibling thing going and I was really disappointed when that happened. I just cannot understand why a sibling would be upset about two consenting adults they care about falling in love. Or sleeping together or dating or whatever. Like these are adults, right?? After the way Emory reacted I don't think I'll be reading her book. Grow tf up, Emory.

It was a cute romance novel that was balanced on spice to plot. I thought that both Reed & Holland's personal arcs were reasonable and realistic for the time frame. It was nice to have characters who felt real with real stakes and conflicts (something I think gets forgotten often in romance novels.). It was refreshing to see individual arcs that supported their arc together.

Devoured this in one sitting. This one had my favorite tropes all in one!

Sports Romance, Brothers Best Friend, Forbidden Romance and single “dad”

I absolutely loved that Holland became Evan’s nanny and how cute Reed was to her. And the cliffhanger ? Immediately moving on to the next in the series !

Love it

I love this book I can't wait to read more from this author and more in this series l hope we get to see past characters in the future
