The Witness for the Dead by Katherine Addison

Pretty good mystery and I like celehar but it’s pretty easy to see that monette/Addison has one sort of stock mystery solver sad man that she returns to as seen in the bone key and the angel of the crows. Anyway. I liked it! No where near as much as I liked the goblin emperor but I’ll probably read the next one.

Four stars for character and prose, three stars for plot. I would follow Celehar through a whole trilogy. But this particular book felt like it bit off a bit more than it could chew, and had more digressions into side-plots than really suits the mystery story this ostensibly is. When I reached the end I felt like I'd come to the end of a stairway one step too early.

I loved this, and I love Celehar! I wasn't expecting the mystery (I have a habit of forgetting to read the blurb, and going into books unprepared) and quite enjoyed that!

Loved this book. I liked that nothing really dragged and the story really got me attached to the characters. Only felt off about one element that isn't really worth mentioning. Other than that, perfect!
