I probably shouldn't have read that one right after the previous book of the series, since the similarities were too pronounced this way but I enjoyed it anyway.
It's the story of a married couple, Bronwyn and Bryce, who find their way back to each other after
Two years later, life brings Bronwyn back to Bryce, but he seems to hate her since he believes that she was at the site of the accident that caused his deafness when he came after her and she simply walked away from him, something that never happened.
His overwhelming guilt combined with his disorientation from his injuries caused him to see her, something that he never questioned since he gave him someone else to blame for their situation but himself.
When the truth comes to light, he is more than a little apologetic, but he doesn't know how to fix their marriage, or build back her trust in him, so he grants her the divorce she asks him for. He is not willing to simply give up, however, and tries to build a new relationship between them, especially now that they have a daughter together.
The two of them rediscover the feelings that never really went away, but Bryce has to let down his guard with Bronwyn and share his frustrations instead of hiding them from her, something he never did before and which caused a lot of problems in their marriage.
It turns out that he was abused by his father as a child, and learning that he was to be a father, he panicked that he would be just like his father, so he took out his fear on Bronwyn, and only wished her to leave the room and give him some time to think, instead of leave him.
I really liked the fact that the hero is deaf, which is not something a lot of romance novels dare.
An engaging book, with quite a few similarities to the first book, if a little more angsty. The series continues with His Unlikely Lover.
