Slow to start, then tripped over myself to finish it!
I started reading this, having watched a few TikToks on Antarctica and thinking I understood a bit about the life out there. Emma brings this to life in her writing in an amazing way though, and fills the story with a bit of everything; murder mystery, romance, humour, intrigue etc.
By the middle of the book I couldn’t put it down and gobbled it up in an afternoon/evening. Such great pace, and twists and turns that keep you invested.

Really had to suspend my disbelief for this one, but gosh was it entertaining. Slow start, but really picked up in the last hundred pages or so. I kind of picked the killer but it still made me squeal when it all got revealed. Super engaging and an enjoyable read!

Atmospheric, but so problematic. Seriously, supposedly this assignment is so difficult that only certain people can handle this... and somehow all these people have serious issues in their past. Especially Kate! She would have not passed the preliminary to be the doctor there. So suspend that belief and then, if this is literally a KILLER environment, how can it conveniently not kill you when it suits the narrative. Stripped, left to dead, nope not going to kill me at the ending. I am guessing the "drugs" would be harder to get as well.

Overlong thriller with an implausible plot. I so wanted to like this, but it was one I nearly DNF. The MC, Dr Kate seemed to spend each chapter making one bad decision after another - in each case castigating herself, only to do virtually the same thing the following chapter. Quite obvious who the bad guy was, but of course our heroine, who also had a serious pill problem was oblivious, and just appeared to wildly accuse one person after another.
There are inconsistencies within the plot and timeline and I found the way the characters interacted with each very unbelievable. The pace thankfully picked up in the last 50 pages or so, which is why I gave it 2 stars in the end.
