Kept me guessing
I really liked this book. The location and atmosphere added a lot to the story, and having limited characters kept it tight. I love that the main character is flawed and honest about her insecurities, and the mystery kept me guessing through most of the book.
I read it during a rare snowstorm which added to my enjoyment.

** Thank you to Pigeonhole and the author for the chance to read and review this one**
Perfect for cold dark nights!
The story is set in a base in Antarctica which is quite literally in the middle of no-where. A small group of scientists and engineers are left over winter to run the base with no way out until the summer crew arrive to swap places. The main narrative is a possible murder mystery which the Doctor (our protagonist) decides to investigate. With a small cast of characters and few locations, the author did a fantastic job keeping the reader engaged. The descriptions of the base were obviously well researched and I felt myself shiver at times thinking of the extreme cold. Yes there were some implausible situations but that just made things more entertaining. I can definitely see this one being made into a movie, I think the location and the characters would translate onto screen really well.
A really gripping snowy thriller best read in front of a fire with a hot chocolate (Baileys optional).

Having read a lot of thrillers and crime fiction, I found this pretty formulaic.
