Super like! Particularly: the sajak, the padded-shouldered jackets, the long-haired 80s rock fans and poets, the silhouette of Mat Som's dad when he's visiting his kampung, Wan Faridah's language, the ais kacang device on pg 157. Lat is a treasure. I'm only sorry I didn't come to his work sooner.

Funny and fun. The problem with the English translated version is all the fonts have been changed to normal Serif fonts instead of using Lat's "handwriting" and that made some of the speech bubbles look awkward. I hope they'll publish a new English edition of the book.

It is a melancholic and nostalgia tinted work. It is short but it is good. Kecil-kecil cili padi. If you can read Malay, please purchase the Malay version. Lebih mengengat.
