Eve Sawyer is a journalism student and is excited that she gets to house sit with a couple of friends over the winter holiday. Everything goes south really quickly though when a neighbor out walking his dog comes across a body hanging in a tree...and it's in the yard of the house where Eve and her friends are staying.

This was a great little story that I read in just about an hour and a half. It kept me engaged in what was happening and I enjoyed the little twists and turns throughout. While this is part of a series, this book can easily be read as a stand alone. I look forward to reading more work by this author.

I didn't realize initially that this was a book in a series, Book #4 to be exact, but am happy to report that it serves well as a stand alone as well. I'm sure there would be added value to the content including background on the characters and adventures they've experienced together, but not having read those did not seem to detract at all to the storyline; Ms. Suen did a great job of providing just enough context without leaving a reader wondering what they're missing.
I thoroughly enjoyed Eve's sleuth-like qualities and will most likely be downloading books 1-3 to see what I'm missing; the only thing I wish there would have been more of was the detective/dog duo- definitely would have enjoyed more from that duo, but the book was enjoyable!

A Death on Fools Lane (An Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen. This 4th installment in the Eve Sawyer Mysteries is just as good as the other 3. It can be read as a standalone with no problem. Its the continuing story of Eve Sawyer who is a college student who keeps stumbling upon murder victims. While house sitting with some friends during winter break they are woke up in the middle of the night by the police telling there is a dead body in their back yard. Of course Eve and her friends have to investigate. Finding out if its a actual murder of suicide is the first step they need to figure out. Then they have to be very careful they don't end up becoming a victim in the mystery. Will they be able to figure out what is going on and why before someone else gets hurt? Read this fun mystery to find out!

A Death on Fools Lane Murder Off Route 82 is the Fourth book in the Eve Sawyer Mystery Series by Jane Suen. I think this is my favourite Eve Sawyer Mystery to date.

This book picks up where book 3 left off. They can be read as standalones, but I suggest you start with the first book and work your way through. That way you get to see where Eve started and how she has grown throughout the series.

Eve Sawyer is a college undergrad student and loves nothing more than getting the story. This tenacious young woman seems to find trouble even when she is not looking. The other thing is she can’t say no when others need her help. Eve and friends are looking forward to relaxing and settling in for the holiday season, the smell of Christmas is in the air but so is trouble. As Eve and her two friends are drawn into helping solve a mysterious death, they find more than they bargained for.

What secrets come to light as she and her friends race against time as their lives once again become endangered.

This engaging cozy mystery is fast-paced and has everything to make the pages turn.

Be sure to grab a copy and settle in for an afternoon read.

Eve and her friends are taking a short vacation over the Christmas holidays while watching a house for a friend's aunt. The morning after they get into town, a man is found hanging in a tree in the back yard of the same house. Eve sets about finding out how Mead died.
Opinion
For a short book, this was a good mystery. At just 127 pages, the story is quite short. Suen show promise for mysteries but I wish more details were added. This book is perfect for someone who needs a distraction for an hour or two.

This was another great read from Ms Suen! I love following Eve and her adventures. This may be a short story but it is certainly not short on detail. Poor Eve was expecting to have a nice relaxing getaway with her friends but as we know when Eve is about there is always something to be solved! There were so many twists and turns in this story – everything was definitely not as it seemed! The author did an amazing job of keeping the suspense going the whole way through the story.
These books are an absolute must read – I can’t wait to read this author’s next book!

I am a definite fan of Eve's mysteries. This one is a definite page-turner. There were little twists thrown in that kept you on your toes. Eve and her friends make a terrific crew when it cums to solving mysteries. I knew the aunt was in there somewhere but how? I didn't see that ending coming. I found the cast of characters quite entertaining and intriguing. They really kept me guessing in figuring out who did it. I love the writing. This is one of my favorite authors for suspense and mystery. She has a talent for drawing you into her web of words. A definite must read.
