Haunting, started a little slow but picked up the pace quickly. Kept me guessing, the ending was rather abrupt but satisfying.

Hazel comes back to Mirror Lake after her father's death. At the same time, cars are being found in bodies of water and they seem to be linked to her father.
While I found the mystery, for the most part, fairly predictable. The murderer was one of the obvious choices. Some of the other twists were interesting while others were predictable as well.
That said, the journey was enjoyable. I didn't find most of the characters that likable though. Which made it harder to enjoy.

Narrator Rating: 4.75 stars

The narrator did an excellent job, but just wasn't quite to 5 stars, but I can't put my finger on why.

Megan Miranda has always been a go to thriller author for me! This one is pure chaos right until the last pages. Family drama that’ll definitely make you think your family is way more normal than you thought. There’s a lot of questioning on who to trust which I love in my thrillers!

Daughter of Mine is a suspense/mystery that follows Hazel Sharp back to the small town of Mirror Lake following her father’s death. There’s a lot to unpack in this story, and the first half of the book moved at a slow pace.

Tension grows as we learn more about Hazel’s family and origin story, including the disappearance of her mother many years ago. As Hazel uncovers more about her father, brothers, and what’s been happening in the town, she doesn’t know who to trust or where to turn. The ongoing drought, unexpected finds in the lake, and break-ins contribute to Hazel’s unease, worry, and paranoia as to what’s happening.

I felt pretty neutral about this book due to the slow burn pace, a few too many characters without a lot of substance, and an ending that was simultaneously convoluted and rushed.

Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada + NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
