I read this book (the Kindle version) every morning for almost the entire year and it helped me through the best and worst of days in this challenging pandemic year. I hope people take the time to gain wisdom from the ancient Stoics. A good friend from grad school recommended this to me. I will highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a very good meditative tidbit each morning. I like mulling over the ideas I gain from the book during my meditation sessions (as I welcome the sunrise or watch the evening sky at night before I sleep).

I like this idea of short one page descriptions but once I start reading this book, I never relate to it. It too short. I can't read 40-50 pages in one go because each page is different. Reading one page each day doesn't feel right.

I don't think this book is for me. Maybe I'll try reading this in future when it's more relevant but for now I can't complete this book. It's going in my dumped books list.

1 a 2 páginas por dia, com reflexões. Gostei muito!!
informative inspiring reflective slow-paced

I've never tried a daily devotional before, but this one was perfect - it truly felt like I achieved something by reading this every day for a year. This book firstly demystified stoicism for me, and secondly left me with some learnings and practices that I can apply in all aspects of my life.

A great gift for a reflective friend or family member.

DID NOT FINISH: 26%

Man soll ja jeden Tag eine Seite lesen und das hab ich 2024 nicht gemacht. Ich werde es 2025 aber nochmal probieren und nur Ende des Jahre auflisten, wenn ich es wirklich getan hab 😌

Eh. Good advice, maybe I didn't put in the work for it to be effective. It didn't give me the urge to change myself.

Love this for the quotes from Stoic philosophers, not so much for the Chicken Soup flavoured commentary on each one.

DID NOT FINISH

Life’s too short to finish insufferable books written by self-important white men.

The selection of quotes is great, the commentary is not always that insightful.
