Ehhhhhhhh... I'm pretty sure this book was just 500 sex scenes in a trench coat. I'm genuinely sad I didn't count all of them because the actual number would've been equally as absurd, I'm sure.
The plot was hanging on by a thread—without the smutt this book would've been 50 pages long and equally as vague. Like, I don't know if I blacked out or what, but I was always just slightly confused about what was going on and feeling like I had missed something. The story picks up in such an odd place and with little to no explanation about what is happening and it ends similarly...
I don't know, maybe I'm just stupid or wasn't paying enough attention, or maybe all of the porn just gave me some minor brain damage, who the fuck knows.
If you want to read a Mafia romance, there's plenty of good ones, don't waste your time here. If you want to read cover to cover smutt, go for it I guess?

When a marriage of convenience meets undeniable chemistry, things are bound to get messy—especially when the groom is a powerful, broody alpha like Alejandro, and the bride refuses to be anything less than his equal.
I loved how the FMC didn’t just roll over and let Alejandro control everything (except, well… in some areas 😈🔞😏). She challenged him, proved she was more than just a contract wife, and got under his skin in all the best ways. And Alejandro? For all his tough-guy act, he fell hard—even before she realized it. Bonus points for him confessing his love in Spanish, knowing she wouldn’t understand. Smooth move, King.
The ending? Yeah, let’s just say I need the next book ASAP because that cliffhanger was rude.

I've read this twice now... the second time because I forgot I had already read it LOL. It's a great book, a solid 4 stars. Alejandro is hot, possessive, and over-the-top protective. Alana is sweet and perfect for Alejandro and that's a problem because he was told she's a shallow, spoiled princess, which is why he chose her for the arranged marriage. He didn't want to fall in love with his wife... And he falls head -over-heels for Alana. There's a bit of miscommunication and false assumptions made throughout as Alana and Alejandro get to know each other, but nothing life shattering or that isn't worked out quickly once realized. The only reason this is not a 5 star read is because this one book was enough. I'm not actually interested in reading another book about their story (though I would love to find out who Lucy actually is) and toward the end, I was ready to be done with this book and move on. I don't usually like duets so it is likely this is personal preference.

4.5 Stars This was the first book I read by Sadie and have been hooked ever since! I really love Alana and I softened towards Alex. I like the story and this is a steamy read! Love a forced marriage and enemies to lovers trope. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I liked the 2nd duet in this series just a bit more.
I could NOT put this down! But that’s Sadie for you. She’s a queen to me for the Mafia Romance and I devour every page I’ve read of hers from start to finish! This starts as a forced proximity, arranged marriage between two families. Alejandro thinks Alana is a “spoiled princess” from NY. Her dad is a politician who turns out to be not a good man (but really in todays day and age what politician is) Alana is a 25 year old woman who is “saving herself for marriage” but did this cost her with being forced to marry the King of LA? They butt heads and every corner until one day they finally consummate their marriage after weeks of being married. Alejandro was known as a “playboy” and owns hotel chains. No other woman has ever meant so much to him. Choosing Alana for his bride he had two things set in mind, that he would never fall for her and but she would produce an heir for him. Until he falls for her, he can’t get enough of his wife and realizes he cannot live life without her.
Well yet again I find myself not being able to put down a Sadie Kincaid book. This might just be my favorite so far. I loved the characters and the story line. And OMG the cliffhanger. I am jumping right into book 2
