While I really wanted to enjoy this book as the dark mafia romance genre is like coming home for me, 1 genuinely struggled.

Between the grammatical errors and the (at times) cringe-worthy wording, it was difficult at best to keep from DNFing this book (This would have been a first for me). I would compare the writing, dialogue, readability to that of a Wattapad story, but that would be insulting to Wattapad writers everywhere.

There was minimal character development and the plot was scarcely there in between the excuses that may have passed for "erotic" scenes in a low budget pornography - if I had to read the word “concha” or "coño" ONE more time (insert eye roll).

By the end of book one, the only resolution (I use this term loosely) to the original "plot" was regarding why Alana married Alejandro to “save” her father - to which there was never any genuine explanation, just hints at it being that she never really had to "save" her father, but rather he sold her off for a campaign donation (father of the year here).

That being said, I loathe leaving a series unfinished which is why I plan to suffer through the sequel for the sake of that alone.

I refuse to leave any amount of stars for this on the grounds of having basically wasted 48 hours of my life enduring this -Word to the wise, read the reviews before reading because this was not it.

Alejandro and Alana live in my head rent free. Alana is sold to Alex by her father. Alejandro doesn’t except to be captivated by her. But the more time he spend with her, the more he wants to know her…more intimately

Author, do not read this review. It will not make you feel good. Read the good reviews, do your thing. There are people who like your work, but I am not one of them.

I finished this book, but don't let that fool you. It has nothing to do with the book quality and EVERYTHING to do with how stubborn I am. I can't let a book this bad go unfinished.

This book was uninspired. That's not enough for one star, though, I've given plenty of 3 and 4 star reviews to uninspired plotlines before. No, that wasn't all...

This book had AWFUL dialogue. It was just bad. It was actively unsexy when it tried to be hot, and stupid when it tried to be smart. It read like an alien emulating human conversation. It was, frankly, insane.

This book was RIFE with typos and grammatical issues. I gave up tracking them. It was painful.

This book had the weirdest use of Spanish that I've ever seen in a book.

This book had the most inconsistent characters I've ever encountered. Character development? LOL NOPE, let's just make them do yoyo tricks with their personalities! That's practically the same thing. Also, the FMC should be delicate but ALSO STRONG but also a pushover BUT ALSO FEISTY but make sure she's submissive BUT SHE STICKS UP FOR HERSELF but she also lets him do whatever he wants BUT SHE DOESN'T NEED HIM but... Also, the MMC is a douche-canoe, but not a hot one, just a boring, weird, implausibly Hispanic dude with anger management issues and unbelievable bedroom prowess (no, really, I don't believe it).

I would say skip this book, but maybe don't skip it. Maybe everyone should be forced to read this so we can all calibrate our expectations for a one star read.

I liked it but it was honestly too much smutt like anytime they got into an argument he just immediately jumped her. Like they had no communication skills at all I liked the plot and stuff but it got so redundant. I was skipping through scenes cuase it was too much
