This book is awesome, just had to share! She details so many interesting things. The only issue is that it's annoying that she immediately jumps to the next topic before going more in-depth, but it also encouraged me to research some of the stuff (like the Nutshell Studies) on my own time. Most of the things she mentions aren't THAT gross. The forensic nematology and virology is my favorite part. I didn't realize how much science goes into it! Her writing is clear and there isn't too much fluff. I actually looked into her because I read her articles in National Geographic growing up, and always enjoyed them. The book is like a bunch of her articles put together. Really fun and interesting :))) I hope she write more books!

My favorite kind of science text is one that explores more uncomfortable topics. While this definitely had me nauseous at points (I don't fare well with parasite talk), I feel like I walked away with interesting knowledge and also have less reaction to the idea of some of the gross science that the author explained. Honestly really wanting to try out some bug protein foods.

I mostly enjoyed the stories and the organization but a lot of it was very surface level and I would have liked more detail.

In turns gross, morbid, and utterly bizarre, every essay of Gory Details was fascinating. Though the gore dropped off in intensity by the end, the somewhat straying viewpoint never caused me to lose interest. Fun and weird!
