I was excited to read this book when I picked it up. I am always looking for the next non-fiction book that will captivate me, hold my interest, and make me crave more.

I enjoyed Engelhaupt's book, which was a collection of different gross, creepy, disgusting, and dark topics. From feet in Puget Sound to engineering cockroaches to finally getting the clitoris right, this book covers a vast amount of ideas. Engelhaupt even gets personal with a few of the stories. Trying gourmet bugs and having her face mined for mites, she gets down and dirty into learning and sharing about these "gross" things that we are too uncomfortable to talk about.

I think this was a great way to write a book like this. Just a little taste into each research focus, showing us that this is some people's entire life, and that it can have a small place in ours. I think it was important that these things are brought into mainstream light. We should at least try to feel comfortable with the 'Gory Details' of the world around us. And as she put it in the afterword: "be more blunt".

3.5 This is sort of a hodge podge of stuff that’s supposed to make you think and potentially gross you out. The problem I had was that in this age of ubiquitous in your face social media, I had heard much of it before, now just with added details. It is difficult to reveal completely new topics, which would have been more refreshing and attention grabbing. It’s still good interesting information, and I love the premise that the author wants us to be able to have a discussion no matter what the topic.

I loved this one!! So many interesting pieces; I did a lot of repeating facts. The audiobook is excellently done.
