Poor sweet Leo! He just wanted to help set up a dating website! Then somehow, he ends up on some of the most awkward and cringe worthy dates ever! Who thinks Nick's subconscious makes this happen? Me! I really felt for Nick because I can relate with not being ready to move on. It was tough for me to wait out his feelings but so worth it when all his feelings really hit him!

12 Dates of Christmas plays on a familiar trope of setting the person you're interested in on dates and realizing too late that you're interested in them. To be fair to Nick, he's a widower who's been grieving the loss of his wife, and has been going through the process of moving forward at his own pace. It's not his fault Leo blew right through all of his defences.

Leo is a hopeless romantic who fell in love with Christmas Falls while visiting his friend, Hayden, whom we remember from Scrooge You last year. Leo helps Nick set up his website for his matchmaking business, and can't help developing a crush on the man.

Even as feelings begin to form, they do establish a rather easy friendship from the beginning. The lines of communication are already rather open and honest from a professional standpoint. But they definitely expand into personal territory rather seamlessly. But things are quite skewed in Leo's favour.

He knows, without a doubt, that he has feelings for Nick. But Nick's established that he isn't in a place to date. Which leaves Leo seeking the kind of happily ever after relationship he sees in Hayden and Joel.

It takes a few particular moments for Nick's brain to catch up with his feelings. But once it does, he's honest with Leo, and communicates openly about where he's at.

They take their time getting to know each other on a romantic level, and establish the new parameters of their relationship. It's not the most epic slow burn I've ever read, but it's very sweet, and calm, and lovely. Watching them grow into their romance is really heartwarming, and it's something I really enjoyed reading.

I'm also really enjoying getting to know Brigham Vaughn as a writer. And I'll definitely be looking into her catalog in more detail in the future!

For now, we still have some people to meet in Christmas Falls, and a Secret Santa to uncover!

While the idea of this book is cute and it's quite enjoyable, I couldn't really get invested.

12 Date of Christmas is another sweet holiday romance set in the holiday-obsessed town of Christmas Falls. It's about Nick, a man who lost his wife, the love of his life a few years ago, and Leo, a young man ready for love and a relationship.
Leo sets up Nick,s website for his matchmaking service, and Nick offers to find Leo love through the service when he moves to town. It's a sweet idea, except both of them already have their eyes on the other, so it doesn't actually go to plan.

In Leo's case, the thing I couldn't get behind is the obsessive need to find love and be in a relationship. I get it. Most people crave that connection, but in my opinion, if you force it, it's not gonna happen. Otherwise, he is a sweet guy with a big heart and a lot of bravery signing up for a blind date service like Nick's. He seriously pines for Nick, which sabotages his dates a little bit.

Nick's story is hearttouching. I love stories where an MC has a second chance at love after a loss. I was not always sure he was ready to move on because he was seriously hung up on her sometimes. However, he does show a willingness to move on after some confusion and deliberation. It is nice to see him thinking it through before jumping into anything.

There were times when I thought Leo should just leave Nick because he was rude and insecure, and Leo deserved better. But they worked it out, so that's that.

Overall, the story gives all the holiday vibes thanks to town and all the cheery holiday activities. When it comes to the romance, I'm not sure it hit the mark for me. Plus, I really don't like the formatting (big space between every paragraph). It disturbed the flow of reading.
