Brilliant. Perfectly captures all the feelings of a long winter, while conjuring a whole cast of strange and marvellous characters, little creatures who are so very human and so very much themselves. Little My, with her fierce capacity for life itself, is my favourite.

My second Moomin read, and just as magical as the first (which was "Moominvalley in November"). Introspective, nostalgic, magical. I'm utterly enchanted.
What's better than the greatest Fennoswedish writer of all time? The winter parts in the TV-series was always very frightening as a child, what with the Isfrun (Ice lady?) and Mårran walking around, but this book is wonderful every time I read it. Except for the Hemul, I can't really stand that dude.
