It’s an annual tradition to read Moomintroll Midwinter out loud to my kids as the winter solstice approaches. We all agree that it’s our favorite Moomin book—they’re all great, we just like this one best. The boys are old enough to read it to themselves, of course, but I think they still like that I read it to them. It’ll be a sad day when we don’t spend a week or so reading it at night... I suspect and hope that I’ll get a chance to read it to them long after they’re “too old”.

Dieses Buch ist wirklich etwas besonderes. Ich hab noch nie ein Kinderbuch gelesen, welches die Melancholie und Trauer des Winters so wunderschön mit Beschreibungen der Umwelt verbindet. Es fühlt sich wirklich so an als hätte ich Mumin auf dieser sehr emotionalen Reise begleitet und irgendwie mit ihm zusammen daraus gelernt.
