Może to kwestia czytania po angielsku, ale tak mnie ucieszyła ta lektura, jak mało który rom-com w ostatnim czasie - całkiem inne doświadczenie, idealnie wakacyjne!

This had me smiling and giggling out loud for the first half or so. Then around three quarters through conner dropped this BOMB and then turned from broody and serious to whiny and annoying and selfish and it honestly lost so much charm. Also they fully had sex twice before they realized they had feelings for each other??? and fizzy kept saying afterwards she wasn't into him like that?? girl what? I'm so sad because fizzy was SUCH a fun character and I was really rooting for this story, it still turned out OK though in the end.
This may not bother some people, but I almost felt like there was too much going on. I think in the modern post-booktok romance landscape, some books start to feel like a trope salad. This mashed together so many concepts -- first, one of my least favorite modern romance trends, the main female character works in the book/publication industry, specifically writing romance. So there's the plotline where she's learning to believe in love again. Then, there's the MMC who is a single dad, and he's learning to open up and trust a new woman in his life with his family. That, coupled with a chill B-plot about the genetics dating app which leads to funny dating scenarios, could have been the whole book. Instead, this book keeps the dating app concept from Jess and River's book, but it is about the dating show that they produce together. That's a whole other storyline with like ten more characters and a whole other conflict and climax. Plus Jess and River and Fizzy's whole family make cameos.
I think it was done as gracefully as possible, and I generally like books about reality TV, but I think something should have been dropped in order to make this more coherent. If I was making the call, I would've said scrap the single dad plotline and maybe the "Fizzy wants to make her family proud" plotline. Conner's daughter (I already forget her name) didn't add anything different from Juno in the first book, and then there could've been more focus on the TV show, which was supposed to be the main plot of the book but barely any time was spent on it.
I went in on this book pretty hard but I honestly enjoyed it. I've just read a lot of romance lately and it's making me more critical. Generally I'd say anyone who enjoys other cristina lauren/abby jiminez/talia gilbert books will like this and I had a good time with it overall
Also, River >>> Conner

As embarrassing as it is to say, the first half actually made me... irritable? Fizzy was so unbelievably unrelatable. Smart, funny, sex positive and so drop dead gorgeous that people are lining up to date her. Oh, and she just happens to be surrounded by other hot people. That felt like the entire storyline until maybe...70% of the way through? And then the last 30% had me smiling.
omg this book was so good when i say i literally could not stop reading it i mean i had to finish it before i could even get any of my homework done it was that good
i am obsessed
after reading again: still was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.
