Out of all of the Christina Lauren books i have read i would not say "The Soulmate Equation" was my favourite. Though I liked the concept, some bits were a bit cringe. And, unfortunately, this book was more like Soulmate Equation than her other books. In my opinion, Fizzy was too sex-obsessed. TBH they were both a bit sex obsessed; having very vivid sexual thoughts in front of the children?? Like can you not control yourself? Once again, the whole small, tiny girl with HUGEEEE guy cliche came back which I am tired of. Also her saying she wants to impale herself with him and die? Like wtf, bit much. However, I liked the concept of the book and some lines were really funny, icl.

I chose this book because I‘m on a mission to read all the Christina Lauren books so here we are.

I already liked Fizzy as a side character in The Soulmate Equation, but she definitely felt more like comic relief there. In The True Love Experiment, Fizzy finally gets the depth she deserves—and I ended up loving her. She’s chaotic, funny, emotional, driven, and layered in a way that makes her incredibly relatable.

Connor was great too. I liked that he wasn’t some perfect hero—he’s flawed, aware of it, and actively trying to grow. That made him feel grounded and real. The chemistry between Fizzy and Connor was on point: the banter, the tension, the emotional connection—it all felt believable and kept me invested.

I also really appreciated the way the authors handled their relationships with others. Connor’s dynamic with his ex and her partner, and their healthy co-parenting setup, was a standout. Fizzy’s close bonds with her family and friends were equally heartwarming.

As someone who adored Jess and River (and especially him!) in The Soulmate Equation, I loved their appearances here. Christina Lauren gave us just enough of them to satisfy returning readers, without relying too heavily on their story.

Yes, the ending was a little over the top, but honestly? That’s exactly what I expected and wanted. It was fun, a little extra, and totally satisfying.

This one is perfect for fans of Christina Lauren, Emily Henry, and Tessa Bailey—anyone who loves smart, funny romance with real emotional depth. And a goooood portion of spice.

The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren
5 stars
Spice: 🔥🔥/5

Christina Lauren can do no wrong. I loved this book as much as I loved River and Jess’s book. Fizzy was so comical in Soulmate Equation and her own book delivered.

Fizzy was so witty, strong, yet vulnerable. The relationship that developed between Fizzy and Connor kept me turning the pages as fast as I could. CL did a great job at creating depth, chemistry, sexual tension, and slow burn. It was full of angst and physical pining for these two.

I loved that Fizzy was a romance writer. The premise of the book was interesting and kept me entertained. Conner was yum, yum, yummy. I love a man with an accent, who doesn’t?  The spice was completely worth the wait.
