The last quarter of this one felt a little all over the place. The plot twist with Aiden's dad felt unnecessary to me and it was a little weird to have so much conflict in the last 2 or 3 chapters of the book. It was raw and emotional and fantastic otherwise.

As someone who’s been married almost ten years and has experienced a significant rough patch or two (and also has severe anxiety, along with other mental health diagnoses/neurodivergencies), I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this book.

Overall, I enjoyed the read, but when I actually think about the details of the story, I get a little frustrated.
Aidan supposedly has been in talk therapy for YEARS…did he really not talk with his therapist about what was going on with Freya and his app and his anxiety and sex drive? And then after one session with the marriage counselor he starts trying to make an effort? That just didn’t sit well with me. Or Aidan really needs a new individual therapist.

Other minor quibbles…I’m from Kailua and we do not refer to
most highways by their numbers. When I read that they merged on to “61-S” I legit put my book down and looked up wtf road that was because I wasn’t sure. Then I texted my sister who also had no idea because literally we only call it Pali Highway. I drove the Pali almost daily, if not multiple times a day for years and genuinely had no idea what it’s number was.

Lastly, the new pendant Freya has made said 3650 days. That’s not how many days are in 10 years. There are two leap years in a decade, so it should be 3652 days (hi, can you tell I’m autistic?). I feel like that’s something that Aidan would have at least noticed, since he’s such a stickler for numbers and accuracy and stuff.

From the beginning of the book, I’d never expect it to end up with this high of a rating. I get so frustrated (which is probably the point) when I read conflicts that could’ve been fixed with the help of communication! But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how realistic this book is. And as much as both the main characters frustrated me at times, I do see where they were both coming from.

I also really liked the anxiety representation in here! I know that anxiety is different for different people, but I very much recognized myself in the way Aiden described his mind and how it works.

Another great addition to the Bergman Brothers series! Freya and Aiden’s story was very compelling and emotional. Marriage in crisis isn’t one of my preferred romance tropes but this book was so well done. You could feel the tension between Freya and Aiden. More importantly their insecurities/fears and love for each other was what balanced. Definitely would recommend.

I hate the writing, I like the underlying message.
I have two questions: 1: why are they SO HORNY all the time? They have been married 10 years, is this not A BIT unrealistic? Maybe it's me, but I couldn't relate. I choose this books because it is about a married couple but got a YA horny couple anyway. 2: why do they swear so much? One could play a drinking game with this book and take a shot every time that there is a swear word (double if it is fuck or fucking) and be drunk one chapter in. I get it, they are angry, but make me feel it! You can be angry or frustrated without swearing! Uggg
