My least favourite of the series so far. It's a marriage in trouble.

Aiden and Freya have been married almost a decade but something has been off - so much so that she kicked him out and sent him to stay with her brother Ren to get some space. You know this at the end of the 2nd of the Bergman Brothers series.

Aiden has GAD. His anxiety is a big part of the story
and the overall conflict

I saw the twist coming. I didn't really like it. The janitor being the deadbeat dad Aiden was anxious about being nothing like when they're planning for a baby didn't feel necessary for me. We're told Aiden goes to solo therapy but we never see it. He needed to sort through his hang ups anout becoming a dad - not really a confrontation. But that's my two cents

You get lots of the Bergman family in this one. It is sweet to get them all together.

3rd times the charm? Sadly… no. The lack of talking + communicating as a couple irked me. The heavy amount of telling / monologue style of personality traits instead of showing us also didn’t sit well with me. Is Freya supposed to be curvy / plus sized? I would have liked that rep but I couldn’t fully tell.

If you’re looking for a romance that is a marriage that’s gone cold and needs to be jumpstarted again, this one’s for you. I haven’t read this type of romance before and as someone married for about 10 years, a lot of it was relatable. It was very realistic and sweet. Not my fav in the whole series (#2 so far) but it was good!

On anxiety: "... anxiety is like whack-a-mole. Unpredictable, always waiting beneath the surface. Sometimes it’s a trigger that you can pinpoint and deal with, but even then, unexpectedly anxiety rears its head and you’re spinning, wishing you could locate that thing, for there to be one thing, that makes you this way so you can isolate it and smack the shit out of it, or…more accurately, fix it. Somehow."

And

On a marriage on the rocks : We can’t possibly hope to always live ‘happily.’ But ‘ever after’? That we can hope for and choose. Because ‘ever after’ isn’t an idea. It’s a person—an imperfect person who’s perfect for you.” Her eyes search mine as she gives me one soft, tender kiss. “You’re that person, for me. You’re my ever after.

Chloe Liese keeps blowing my mind!
