I love Michelle Rowen and I love her character Sarah. It is really kind of cool How she has taken Sarah and Thierry from her bitten series and have been able.to transfer them over to a new series with new adventures. I really enjoyed the first book and am looking forward to "Bled and Breakfast"

First Thought when Finished: What a wicked fun read that will have you giggling and then going WTF!

What I Thought of the Case: Blood Bath & Beyond is the first in a new Cozy Paranormal Mystery series. This particular case is about proving how Sarah Dearly's very old vampire fiance, Thierry, just did not commit a murder that he was accused of. Sarah is a magnet for trouble and that adds an element of WTF giggling to the mix. Seriously, her ability to stumble into the most insane situations is perfect for this genre. Add to the fact that she really is whip smart and has some common sense to boot--you have a great cozy mystery leading lady. The case is fun and really not easy to figure out. I was wrong about who I thought did it until about 3/4 of the way through!

What I Thought of the Characters: I could gush about the characters in Blood Bath & Beyond for hours! Sarah is smart, sassy, sarcastic, stubborn, and all-around fun. As a new vampire she is holding her own around other's that are much older. Thierry is sexy in that smoldering, quiet, and over-bearing kind of way. He is a bajillion years old so you have to give him a little leeway in his "I am Man" kind of ways. Best character would have to be little 6-year old Tiara Queen! She cracks me up when she calls Sarah puppy! Her mix of child-like and adult qualities was just perfect. I hope she is in the books to come!

Final Thought: Get thee to the bookstore and grab this book. I didn't read Michelle's first series (though I am going to now) and only felt a little lost at the beginning. I could tell there was a backstory but honestly that was only right at the beginning. This book stands on it's own!

This was a fun mystery with twists and turns. The world building was pretty strong, the cast was fun and clear and campy. Honestly, a pretty solid read.

I will admit I was a bit confused as I started reading this book. There were mentions of past events that were never explained but then I learned that this book is spin-off from the original series of the same title series (without mystery attached to it). I suppose without the books from which this spins off from I wouldn't really understand the relationship between Sarah and her deliciously dead fiancee, Thierry.

I will say that despite that I enjoyed this book and it seems like a really interesting start to a new series. I might try to pick up the first series to understand it all from the beginning and re-read this book again later on.

Just as fun as the original Immortality Bites series! Sarah Dearly is her fun, sassy self and her fiance, Thierry, is back and more brooding than ever! Fantastic paranormal fun set in Sin City. I can't believe it took me so long to read this, but the upside is I don't have to wait for book two, Bled and Breakfast. Side note: How cool are the titles in this series!? The ending of this book is definitely left open for more mystery and mayhem for Sarah.

*Some mild violence and language.

All sorts of fun!

As someone who lived in Vegas, it was fun to read a story like this. Was it perfect? Of course not, but it was a fun read. Sarah was a believable character and the story has some nice pacing. Overall, it was just a fun read. I definitely will read more from this author.
