This is the first time i have read any of the Unabridged Brothers Grimm's fairy tales and i really enjoyed them. They were very disturbing. I love it!! (I love creepy stories and movies) I would recommend the stories. :)

DNF

The real versions of the fairy tales we all know and love are so much better. A little gore goes a long way!

Unless you specifically have a scholarly interest 19th century Fairy Tales do not read this book. I especially won't read it to children because any half decent current children's literature would be far more appropriate. By today's standards, this book it's full of very poorly written stories, mainly about how to obtain wealth by deception, often involving mutilation of children and the subjugation of women, all set in very socially conservative and strictly patriarchal social structures. There are millions of books which contain stories that will positively add to your life, any of which would be a far better use of your time than reading even part of the Grimm brother's anthology.

I’d forgotten how grim (pun intended) these stories were. Many of them didn’t even make sense.

More a 4.5. I just wish the annotations were more in depth.

I love this!

I loved all the stories! They were dark and whimsical. Each story was fantastic although some were really similar.

If you are interested in fairy tales, then check this out you will not be disappointed.

Would rather read other books right now. Currently, I just feel like reading out-dated fables made to pander to the church would be a waste of my time.

It was okay . I liked some of the stories and some of them I didnt .
