The introduction to the book is lots of fun. The story is good, I found the ending to be a little abrupt and slightly unsatisfying. Overall not a bad book, though.

In the forward to this book, Stephen King is a bit overly self-deprecating about what to expect from this book but this novel is nothing less than what I expect of his writing. I won’t go so far as to say this is his best writing but it definitely falls under what I would consider an unexpectedly “hidden gem” of King’s/Bachman’s body of work. I highly recommended this title if you are a fan of King’s writing, especially his earlier stuff.

This books is an easy 5/5 for me. I loved this story. It was so sad, but still endearing. Clayton Blazedell Jr. is probably one of my favorite characters I've ever read. Blaze is big, tender, and completely misunderstood. The ending had me so sad! This was one of those stories where even though you know it's wrong you are rooting for the underdog!! Highly recommend.

This was great. The Bachman books tend to be really harsh and dark. Blaze, Bachman's final book, feels unexpectedly tender and sweet. The protagonist is certainly sympathetic, a throwback to Lennie from Of Mice And Men. I loved the structure, I loved the writing, I loved the book in general.
