This book made me think of both Neuromancer and Oryz and Crake, but is also nothing like either. Weird in the way Palahniuk is great at being weird and not as graphically gross as he can sometimes be.

#readingchallenge2023 (my book featuring a sport/athlete)
The beginning of the novel was so engaging; dark comedic writing of social satire through a fascinating wtf journey, but the middle began to drag on, and as the crafted storytelling faded, I was left struggling to the end.
My core enjoyment of this novel stems from the powerful quotes from eclectic characters. The changing story, the events within, and the resolve were a bit too absurd for me. I felt the book somewhat 'over explained' itself, raging lunacy, with too many details colliding with each other. I re-read to discover what I loved when I first read it & I could easily pick out the quotes I remembered fascinating me, but the strength didn't carry through the entire reading experience.

I’d really give it a 3.5 but the minus half would be because I think it went too hard on the crass gross-out stuff sometimes. nifty plot though

Rant was not what I was expecting, but in a good way! It was such a bizarre read full of Palahnuik's style - grisly horror, good humor and a wonderful plot. Easily one of my top 5 favorite books. I love the oral biography setup, it makes it a super easy read. Loved it!

I really liked this book, it's not long or challenging, but it's really fucking weird which I love about books and I was never bored, slightly disturbed at times yes but it was so interesting.
Graphic: Cursing and Car accident
