Awesome book. Very readable. Has helped me understand my recently diagnosed 12 year old son a bit better. It was so interesting to see the similarities between cases mentioned and my own personal experience. Great book!

Solid book on ADHD, specifically to understand the symptoms from other's lived experiences. Some of the references were out of date but that's to be expected. Great read!

A very clear and precise guide to recognize the possible symptoms of ADHD without attempting to fit them into a box. Edward M. Hallowell recognizes that the symptoms of ADHD may not manifest the same way for every individual, and takes into consideration the many ways in which they may manifest.
The book opens with a series a cases, which are quite helpful if you are someone trying to understand if they suffer from ADHD. Even if you aren't reading the book to find out if you have ADHD, it is a very useful guide for friends and families of individuals suffering from it, to empathize with the individuals suffering from the disorder.
I consider this book to be life-changing, because it encouraged me to get myself tested and diagnosed for the disorder. I hope others find it equally helpful as well.

This book came very highly recommended from the doctor who diagnosed my ADHD.
I found the discussion and clarification of different symptoms and side effects of ADHD deeply enlightening. I have noticed many commonalities in myself and my family (between kids, school, jobs, and relationships). Several have been at least partially addressed in the case studies presented. I also found the discussion of management therapies (medications, therapy tactics, certain routine building, etc) very informative and helpful.
