I picked up this book after going into a reading slump with a bunch of lit fic books, and I'm very glad I did.

Everything I look for in a fantasy romance!

first & foremost I would die for Max 🫶🏻 he’s such a good representation of a brooding, protective but not controlling,
only-happy-around-her
MMC. I want to live in his little cabin surrounded by the massive garden he created.

Tisaanah is such a badass - the way she doesn’t sit & dwell on the shitty hand she was dealt in life but instead took her fate into her own hands was super fun to read. I loved the way she used anything she had at her disposal (
including the scars on her back
), manipulated without being cruel, & was so deeply rooted in her beliefs/values (justice for all) while maintained compassion (
even for the being that would take over & lock her out of her own mind/body
).

& then obviously
them together was everything. It was such a good slow burn without any unnecessary “delays” or over worked miscommunication. I adore them together & can’t wait for more.

Beyond the characters/love-story the world building & plot were super engaging & fully flushed out. My only real complaint was that it was a bit hard to keep all the side characters straight, but that’s a bit more of a me problem than the book’s.

I also really loved the audiobook narrators!!

This book pulled me in from the first moment. The FMC is very likeable, the plot is interesting, not predictable and fast paced. I enjoyed this book a lot.
