We all know what the movie is about. I read this book years ago, but picked it up again in 2020 for a readathon. Of course, it's better than the movie, but I also liked the move. The book is nothing major, definitely a bit more detailed, but it's your usual. Stupid teenage kids that made a mistake one night night after having a few beers and smoking some pot. They run over a kid on a bicycle, and after they call for help they decided to flee the scene to avoid getting any charges pressed against them. After making a pact amongst eachother. Long story short, that comes to bite them in the butt after many years and now they have to find a way and fight to keep their lives.
My favourite part was when they thought Elsa did it only based on the evidence that she was ugly and fat :)
Read this to make sure it was appropriate for my young reader. Really enjoyed the story and plot.

easy, quick and entertaining read. Even though it was a bit predictable the double-identity twist at the end still surprised me.

I was so excited to read this book because I have seen bits and pieces of the movie, however the book didn’t meet my expectations. The book was somewhat interesting but the plot was pretty dry for a majority of the book. The characters kept talking about the horrible thing they did last summer but the book didn’t start unraveling the mystery in any way until the last ten pages.
3.25. More of a dark melodrama than a horror like the movie. A quick read with more character shading than the movie. Fun to compare the two. For curious fans of the movie, it’s worth the 2hrs it’ll take you to read it.
