"Enchanted to Meet You" by Meg Cabot, while a pleasant read, didn't quite meet the high expectations I've come to associate with her work. As a longtime fan of Cabot's books, I found this one to be a bit lacking in comparison to her other works. One aspect that left me feeling conflicted was the portrayal of the plus-sized character - while the book attempts to convey a surface-level fat-positive message, I couldn't help but notice some underlying fatphobia that made the representation feel messy and not fully authentic. Additionally, the plot felt somewhat anti-climactic, leaving me hoping for more excitement and depth. However, knowing that this is just the beginning of the "Witches of West Harbor" series, I remain optimistic that future installments will improve upon these aspects and deliver the captivating storytelling that Cabot is known for.

This feels like a badly written fanfiction. The plot progression would go slow and then fast and randomly add in things. The actual conflict had little real lead up and then was fixed without all of the amplification they were talking about the whole time. Even the love interest had little progression and they were just instantly into each other.

this is the book equivalent of a pretty over ambitious halloween hallmark movie.

my main issues are that the characters are pretty one note and underdeveloped and there's just a LOT going on so the stakes feel confusing, and even conflicting at times.

overall the romance is cute enough, the small town drama is palatable and easy to follow, and i was still hooked enough to read the thing.

there were one or two loose ends i didn't care for but hey u win some u lose some. i also caught the set up for what im assuming is the little brothers romance? interested to see if that's any good. maybe.

anyways - cute enough and interesting enough for me to read! jessica and derrick are pretty adorbs.
