Tracey Lange always masterfully creates real characters who deal with complex issues. She does it again with "What Happened to the McCrays?"  Her depiction of small-town life in upstate New York feels authentic. I loved all the characters, not just the couple. This book made me laugh out loud and cry.

This novel is a beautifully told, complex, family drama containing a heartfelt exploration of redemption, grief, and forgiveness. Packed with intricate family dynamics, second chances, and small-town neighborly charm, this novel epitomizes the saying ‘there are two sides to every story’.

“Pain and happiness weren’t mutually exclusive, they could coexist in the same moment, in the same memory.”

I cried for so much of this book. It’s one of those where I just want to scream at people to stop keeping secrets. But grief does terrible things to the brain.
