I gave 2 stars for how well Jenkins Reid maintains multiple first person narratives using an interview format. Clever and well done. I could not finish the book though- the characters are so shallow/surface and the plot is the same. I did not plan to watch the series, and now most certainly won't.

I'm so glad I read this again. I feel like it hit me harder this time, because I've lived a bit more.

The story is complex and the way love is portrayed in it is very interesting... like how Daisy and Billy's story wasn't as simple as just having an affair, Camila's reaction wasn't as simple as forgiving Billy or not for having feelings for someone else, and Karen had feelings for Graham but wanted to be alone.

There is also a lot of platonic love in this that truly makes you think about your own friendships (especially your female friendships) and how they can be just as strong as your romantic relationships.

And the book being about a rock band is the cherry on top.

Three stars because I absolutely enjoyed reading it. And it's a high three stars! The climax of the story isn't really a climatic, and given that it's very tell-y and not show-y it was hard to actually care about the characters. But I had absolute fun reading it.

Another fantastic, engaging, well-written novel from Taylor Jenkins Reid!!

Not a book I would typically read but I was fascinated since everyone raved about this book and I did love The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I think if the theme was something I connected to more then I would have 5 star reviewed. I thought the way it was written was great and I was invested in the character relationships.

(4.5) beautifully complicated characters written with such realistic depth that it’s hard to believe daisy jones & the six aren’t one of the largest rock bands in the world.

I’ve never read a book before that was written like an interview transcript so it took me a minute to get used to reading. I liked the format though as it was kind of unique and it fit the story. I did not entirely see that ending and it was bittersweet. I really felt the pain and love that the band members were feeling for each other and for themselves. It also gives me a different perspective of the lives of celebrities, that it isn’t an enjoyable life as we’re led to believe. Celebrities do have some things in their life that the average person doesn’t but also vice versa.
