I adore books that are a day in the life of a bookseller or librarian. Having been one of those for my adult life, I get it and it resonates. Bythell's wry humor adds to the charm. I didn't realize this one was out and had to immediately check it out.

This is the 3rd book by Bythell that I’ve read and throughly enjoyed. They are easy to dip in and out of. I like gifting these books to far more well-read people than myself, they seem to get a kick out of the references to authors and books  I’m too proud to admit out-loud that I have never heard of. But still enjoyed hearing about.

About one third in, I decided to DNF this book for now. It's not that I don't like it as such, but I decided I'm reading it in the wrong way: since the book is a written account (almost like a diary) of the going ons in the bookstore, I'm going to pick it up again when the next year has caught up with the daily entries I've read. From there on, I think I'll rejoin again, reading only a short, daily entry, 'living along' the pace of the book.
