3/5 stars

❗SPOILERS❗

This was a sweet story. Easton was the perfect boyfriend. He legit ran through campus to get to Maya. He repeatedly commuted to her when her grandfather passed. There was hardly any tension in this story.

Johnny was hardly a threat. He broke into her apartment and was beaten for it.

The big drama was her grandfather passing away.

Her brother was mad about them dating for like two second, then he got over it.

Incredibly cheesy - not in a bad way. I’m so glad the author didn’t feel the need to write unnecessary breakup plots and drama after drama, it felt real somehow. I’m not rating more than three stars because I’m not feeling the vibe of such a nice guy - I recently read a few dark romance and I’m sort of still rooting for bad guys; and also because the writing didn’t quite work for me as well as it could’ve.

uh…. okay, Veronica, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE???????????????

honestly.

this book!!!! this series!!!! this team!!!! Heston University has my entire heart!

Easton was such a golden retriever, so sure of himself and his feelings and the way he supported and had Mayas back no matter what???? UNMATCHED!!!!

Maya, my angel!!!! I wish I could protect you but I know Easton will so that’s okay! I honestly couldn’t read her talking about her grandpa bc I am also obsessed with mine and have the same feelings she had.

Veronica is truly one of the best authors I found this year and I will be reading all the books she has released so far!

Also, I neeeeeeed the next Heston U book like, yesterday!!!! Hoping it’s for our goalie, Cameron ❤️‍

Easton was an awesome love interest. I especially love a man who isn't scared away by menstruation. I loved how kind and nurturing he was, and there was no question of his manliness. Even more, while he was wooing Maya, I loved watching the two of them getting to know each other. I thought they developed this great connection, that though there was attraction, it was based on friendship.

I thought the banter between Maya and Easton was top notch and I loved the back and forth, push and pull of their relationship. I am also, always a fan of a book not having a third-act break-up and Veronica did a great job with tension in the relationship without relying on a third-act break-up. The spice in this book was great too!

This was my first Veronica Eden book and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I know I will be picking up more of her books in the future!

read if you like: he falls first, rivals sister, friends to lovers, hockey romance

I can count on one hand how many books I've read where I can say that the hero falls first.
So this was kind of refreshing to read.

Easton makes a fantastic book boyfriend and it's hard to find something not to like about him. I love how he respected Maya's boundaries and always made sure she's on board with anything he had in mind. I love how persistent he was, but hardly came across as stalker. Even though he was pretty self-confident, always indicating he knows he'll get the girl in the end.

And love how Maya let down her guard around Easton step by step and slowly fall for him.

I can't wait to continue reading in the Heston U universe!
