This book was freaking amazing!
Leah, poor poor Leah. I kind of get why she's always so hateful. To live for 200 years with a man you love, a man you think hates you must be devastating. It doesn't excuse the way she treated Mercy, who was an innocent child, but I can see why that irrational hatred occured. She saw yet another person her mate cared for, and once again it wasn't her. Bran needs to do better by Leah.
Bran terrifies me. He's so cold and calculating, one day he's going to go too far. I did love his appearance in this book though. Bran has always been one of my favourite characters in the Mercy-verse and as awful as he can be, he's fascinating. I would love a spinoff all about Bran.
I really enjoyed the relationship between Charles and Anna in this book. We got a lot of insight into who they are separately and together. Anna has come so far from the terrified girl she was in Alpha & Omega.
My heart broke for Samuel, I know how much he wanted another child, it's the reason he courted Mercy when she was younger, he was hoping she would give him a child that would survive. This is just crazy and I'm devastated for him.
The story in this one was super cool, I enjoyed it a lot, much more than some of the others. That said, as interesting as the plot was, I really loved how it just allowed you to really get to know the characters on a deeper level than ever before. There's so much character work in this story and the plot was a great vehicle for it.
This is one of my favourite Patricia Briggs books, 5 stars!!

Skvělé, prostě skvělé. Pro knihy P. Briggs mám vyloženě slabost a tato přišla v tu pravou chvíli. I když mnou v poslední době zmítala čtecí krize a nějak se mi ji nedařilo překonat, Divoký symbol jsem si prostě musela přečíst. A nelituju, stálo to za to. I když ve chvíli, kdy bych si musela vybrat, budu tvrdit, že série s Mercedes je lepší, Alpha & Omega jí s posledními díly hodně šlapou na paty. Už jen proto, že tento díl byl o trochu víc... temnější, akční, o minulosti a kořenech. A navíc...

I love Leah and Bran and I love how insane this book is. It’s also, like, way more graphic with SA than the other ones. As I texted my friend “I think sometimes she doesn’t do a good job differentiating between men see women as weak and will try to rape them if they can (which I also. would disagree with but whatever) with women are weak and will be raped unless they are taught to be strong.” This was one of my biggest problems with the whole series, frankly, but it REALLY is prevalent in the first two-thirds of this book.
Thankfully, the last third is balls to the walls action and has arguably four ex machinas in the final battle alone.In order: the bitch who inspired Grendel, 3rd level D&D 5e spell Call Lightning, the trickster god Coyote, and Sasquatch.
