This book certainly gave me a lot of emotional reactions, mostly frustration toward the main character. I tried SO HARD to like this book, but at about the 2-4 hour remaining mark I had the speed at 1.5x and the book had simply lost me. At about 2 hours remaining, I read the cliff notes, and returned the book.

I wonder if I had read this at a different point in life, maybe in the future, when my daughter is a teenager and I’m trying to understand her better, or when I’m not feeling frustration and sadness from all that is happening with covid and the world in general; maybe I’d feel differently, possibly more empathetic to this character? Now was not that time. I have to say, I think the author did an EXCELLENT job writing the personality and mannerisms of a teenage girl, struggling to get through high school. Maybe THAT was just too relatable for me? I don’t know.

I think maybe in the future I’d feel different towards this book, but only time will tell.
