Decided to read it  because of R.F. Kuang and her upcoming book. I'm glad i read it. whilst it wasn't the most interesting thing for me to read,  i just know it would hit different reading it as a bed time story for a kiddo

I really wanted to like this book more. I'm fond of the various adaptations of Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass in their many forms, but for whatever reason the original novel didn't resonate with me on the same level. I'm going to read Through the Looking Glass next and I sincerely hope I like it more.

The story can't help but conjure images of the 1951 Walt Disney film that I watch many times as a child, although that did stray from the book in places.

The plot is one of Alice who chases the white rabbit down a rabbit hole and discovers the strange world of the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and the Cheshire Cat, to name but a few of the fantastical characters dreamt up by Lewis Carroll.

An added bonus is that it can currently be found for free here: https://stories.audible.com/

I don't even know where to start. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Scarlett Johansson, and while her narration was lovely and she did excellent voices for individual characters, I just couldn't get into it. It took me over a month to read this, and it's just over 2 hours long... I mean, obviously, it's not going to be believable because Carroll wrote it when he was high, but the story just didn't feel like it went anywhere to me. Is Alice a children's book? Is it about the sounds you hear morphing into something else in dreams? I really, really wanted to enjoy this, as I've seen the 1951 Disney classic and the 2010 remake, both of which I truly enjoyed. I'm disappointed.
