The writing is superb and had my attention for most of the book, and I adored the characters. The author's knowledge of music really made this book interesting! Overall, though, this felt unfocused, and even though I did enjoy the journey I started to lose interest by the end.

There is a lot of exposition to actually get to the meat of this story and the romance is really a secondary part to the story (which makes Seb's POV feel slower paced). I also thought there was so much more to dig into with the character's fears, like Toni being afraid of fame, which gets easily tied up in a bow in the last chapter without much other mention before then. Again, the writing was great, so I think my problems lie more with the editing side of things.

I think if you tend to lean more towards women's fiction and like rock star stories, this is a good one for you!

I loved the premise of this and had high hopes, but it fell flat. I wanted more depth from the other girls in the band, and I felt like Seb and Toni were missing so much chemistry. I think more flashbacks to the past or full chapters in the past would have helped. All of the band’s interactions just felt very robotic and impersonal.

The writing also could have been better. There were spicy scenes, but somehow the word “motherforking” was also in this book. The tone was not consistent throughout.

I did like the end; it made me think of The Unsinkable Greta James.

Not bad, but I wish there was more. Also, I’ll be comparing every band book to Daisy Jones, so it’s hard to compete.

Loved the female rock band focus - similar vibe to Daisy Jones and The Six in how it follows the band, music industry and creation of music. Wasn't super intrigued by the romance aspect - I felt like the author didn't give a deep enough backstory to make you root for the two love interests.

This book was such a great read and I usually don’t enjoy changing character perspectives, but it was done so easily in the book and didn’t take away from the overall story. There were many layers to both main characters.

The author obviously knows her way around a stage (and recording studio) which really makes the characters and settings pop.
medium-paced

This was labeled as a romance but really didn’t fit as a romance to me… none of the romancey smut until almost the end. I’d say it was a really great novel generally. I really enjoyed it and the story of the lead and her music and the guy she grew up with popping back up many years later. It was a good story.

Enjoyable albeit longer than it may should have been. I enjoyed the entertainment of the story and while it lagged in places, it set the stage (see what I did there?) for the rest of the story. Enjoyable.

Lots of bad language. I felt it was unnecessary but that’s a personal preference.

I think this would make a great movie.
