Some of these stories I didn't know, and some I had heard referred to by other works. But, this particular edition has a hyphenation addiction that made reading it kind of annoying. If you're looking to get some background on some popular stories referenced in older literature, this would be a good book to read though.

Great collection of short stories, perfect for reading and discussing over a meal. There are a handful of strange ones, but the majority are well-known and oft-referenced tales which are very handy to know.

This is a great collection of stories for young (and not so young) children. All of my kids (11, 8, 7) and I really enjoyed it.

This is a collection of historical folklore stories from around the world, many of which are still famous. They have been faithfully retold in an accessible way for all ages by a white American man from the 19th century named James Baldwin- as opposed to the James Baldwin rewriting classic stories with perhaps a post-colonial or gay twist, which would have been interesting too.
We essentially learn that capricious kings will set you free, and the meek shall inherit the earth etc..

We enjoyed this compilation of short stories although we read them in historical order instead of from start to finish. We also enjoyed fact checking the stories to find out if they were legend or real. A good read.

Good collection of stories, some a bit short but interesting none the less. I enjoyed the more familiar stories particularity, Pocahontas and Robin Hood etc.

These are classic myths and stories retold for children. The simple prose is easy to read without being condescending to its younger readers.
