I was REALLY not a fan of the sudden change in the story. And Holmes conclusion was a bit of a stretch but I enjoyed the parts with him and watson for the most part

It surprised me how much I enjoyed this book. It feels rather modern, amazingly enough. There is quite a bit of western history that got really long for me so it's not a 4star book, but I will definately be reading more!

As many times as I have seen A Study in Scarlet on television I never knew that in the real story there was anything about the American west! At least half the story takes place in the old American west, in Mormon circles. It was very interesting to have this western setting, knowing that Holmes stories are in so often in quintessential dreary London.
