Wow this was the first book that I’ve read from Nicole French, The story starts out fast pace and moving and slows down a little but it is a hard book to put down once you start reading. This book will have your emotions all over the place. You will be mad one minute then laughing or crying. Get ready for a ride of emotions and you will love this book. This is a fantastic read that tells POV for each other during the story.

"The energy I feel with this girl in every other place is like the way the air feels right before a thunderstorm. Sparks everywhere."

Bad Idea was my first book by Nicole French and it really took my by surprise. It's a story so full of deep and honest love, loss and letting go, it broke my heart several times.

"All that electricity that's been building for the last two weeks finally sparked, and now it's full-fledged fire."

The story progression is pretty slow, but this way we get to know Nico and Layla with the same intensity and pace they get to know each other. I fell hard for both of them for all the same reasons they fell for each other.

"One breath, and it's like I've never had oxygen. One look at your blue eyes, and water never existed. Fuck, Layla, I don't just want you. I need you."

Even though I think Nico is quite selfish in many situations and I hate him for that, he does so many things right. The way he takes care of her, the way he makes her feel and sways her of her feet and steady her the same time. Nicole did a great job transferring the mixed feelings of the want to follow your dreams and true love. I hate that Nico made decisions that broke Layla's heart more than once, but at the same time I understood why he did it. And I totally could see and feel, why he could never let her actually go.

"...when you love someone, really love them and need them, to live without them is to live without water or air."

Layla is a strong heroine. You might not see it right away and she might not see it herself, but falling in love with Nico changed her and made her even stronger than she already was. The way she believes in Nico is simply wonderful and stunning. The most selfless decision Layla made was letting him go even though it broke her almost beyond repair. She saw something in him and would never let him sacrifice his dreams and the possibility of finding himself not even for her true love she felt for him.

"She might be the best thing that ever happened to me, but I was always a bad idea."

Bad Idea is a very emotional read full of angst and great chemistry. It will tear you apart with its cliffhanger and leaves you wanting more. This story, about Nico and Layla who are from different sides of the tracks with completely different upbringings is pretty captivating and goes straight to your heart.

This book ends on a cliffhanger? I don’t even understand how this story could be drawn out more, and then the epilogue really? While I did for the most part enjoy this book giving it a 3.5 star rating. I won’t be continuing the series because towards the end the author seemed to be grasping for straws.

I have to say first off, I LOVED this couple! This was a new experience for me as a reader because I like to know alittle about the book before I start reading, but I didn't know much about this one going in. I thought I did but there were some surprises I was not expecting. Turns out thats not such a bad thing and I wouldn't dream of spoiling it for others so I'll skip the details of that. Also, I enjoy stand alones, this was the start of a series thats to be continued, I'm not 100% on board with cliff hangers and may NOT have started reading this if I had known that in advance. I would have still read this book I think, because I enjoyed every part of the story, I just don't like to have to wait until the next book comes out but I'll live and hopefully the characters will hold up to the test of time because I really found myself rooting for this couple. The writer has balanced it wonderfully with just the right amount of heat, heart and humor that kept me turning the pages and I was sad when I got to the end and had to leave my 'new found friends'. I look forward to the next installment of their twisty tale and really hope for a happily ever after for them, they deserve it!

Bad idea

Nicole French is a new to me author, but she has become very quickly a binge worthy author. She is not a every thing is rainbow and sunshine with only a small speed bump into their happily ever after. But you will love every speed bump, every emotion she will drag out of you and thank her for it.
And Bad Idea is no exception! Layla and Nico's journey to each other in the beginning is so sweet, and it makes your heart hurt a little because you know Nicole will never just leave it right there.

OMG, I'm so tired of reading books that aren't standalones! I don't buy books to get to the end and then realize I have to go buy another!! What, every time I want to read a book, I'm suppose to check how many there are before I start? UGH! I've lost my patience with all this marketing BS. Just give me a darn complete book to read!

**AHEM**
Now, as far as the story itself... it's not bad. I mean, I got a bit bored with the "I'm 19 and he's so old at 26" thing, but I was on board... until the 'cliffhanger: on year later' chapter at the end where out of the blue she'd apparently cussed him out two months prior and then she's calling him to hurt her current boyfriend and I'm so darned lost because I thought Layla and Nico were in love and suddenly she's over him and with some abusive guy and cussing out Nico and begging him to hurt her BF and I'm *over* the drama. OVER it.

So, no next book for me.

Could have been good. Could have been worthwhile.. just missed the mark for me.

Shittttt! I hate cliffhangers!!! And this one has a serious cliffhanger! Oh my God! Why?!
I liked this book. I really did. But the last 10% of it made me lose my mind!
Nico and Layla were such a strange couple. And it’s not because of their age, but because they made their relationship seem impossible when it really wasn’t.
I felt like the perfect song for this book was Entertainer by Zayn. I listened to this song on repeat while reading the last part of the book.
Favourite quotes:
“One breath, and it’s like I’ve never had oxygen. One look at your blue eyes, and water never existed. Fuck, Layla, I don’t just want you. I need you.”
That when you love someone, really love them and need them, to live without them is to live without water or air. Because to need someone that much... hurts a little, you know? The fear that you’ll lose them is always there. And so maybe there’s a part of you that wishes you didn’t need them so badly.”

What an emotional journey. I devoured this book on a Saturday and what a rollercoaster it was!!! The chemistry between Layla and Nico was electric and their sexual tension was off the charts, I was dying for them to get together. The romance was HOT. And eventually, there were tears....streaming down my face. Ends with wild torturous cliffhanger that just left me NEEDING MORE ASAP.

I loved these characters and the fact that I felt so many emotions so deeply is a testament to how well written the book is (honestly, I very rarely cry in books). Andddd the characters are real, with real life problems and feelings. No gushy fairytale here.

Also, Nico is hot AF. ;)
