emotional fast-paced

Ever picked up a new author and been pleasantly surprised? This is one of those fortunate times. Charae Lewis's Saint Ave is a genuine page-turner that hits many high notes. Despite occasional stumbles in pacing or the progression of romance in the first half of the book, she masterfully draws you into the story, keeping you invested. Lewis truly excels in the latter half, skillfully resolving lingering plot points and authentically depicting forgiveness, the repercussions of dishonesty, the burden of holding grudges, and the critical need to protect children, even amidst profound grief and uncertainty. Although not explicitly or expertly spiritual or clinical, this book subtly reflects themes of grief and depression for those familiar with these experiences. Spoiler: I know what it’s like to live through a depression episode, just laying in bed ready for it to pass. I could feel the MMC’s experience coming off the pages. 😢

FYI, you will enjoy Little Miss Angel. 🤭

I’m reading more Charae Lewis FOR SURE! 🫶🏾

I really liked this book. This could have been a 5 star read for me if we got more time with Hero & Yazmin. By the time we got to them exploring something deeper, shit hit the fan quickly. I would’ve liked to see more romance between them. I also would have liked to see Yazmin be there for him in the same way Hero was there for her. Hero went through some heavy shit and she cut that man off & never attempted to reach out and check in. While Hero pulled up on her & spoke life into her when she was going through her shit. Yazmin definitely stronger than me cause I would’ve folded as soon as he said what he said at the awards 😅 Despite that, I do think it was a good read with a solid plot.
