the premise of this series is really strong...but the execution was weak :/

i love flawed heroines, and i actually think that faythe's stubbornness and recklessness somewhat made sense, seeing as the pride rarely gave her room to breathe. however, there reached a point where she was cutting off her nose to spite her own face. stupid for stupid's sake, which was frustrating bc she was introduced as a feisty, outspoken COLLEGE-EDUCATED woman.

i recognised the moments where vincent tried to demonstrate faythe's growth as a character i.e.
when faythe decides to face the consequences of drunkenly sleeping with marc, instead of running away using jace's car
, but these glimmers of hope were quickly dampened by the weakness of the overall character-building....

...it seems that the plot came first, and the motivations of the characters bent whichever way the plot required. the progression of faythe/marc felt rushed and in no way believable because of this. they were so back-and-forth, like randy teenagers, and the bulk of their history was told rather than shown through actual scenes.

lastly, the overarching commentary of feminism is rendered meaningless by the prominence of marc and faythe's romance. are we really meant to root for the man who started a sexual relationship with the heroine when she was a minor???

not to mention this book really plays into racist stereotypes about latinos/moc being r*pists...

it's a 'no' from me. i will not be continuing this series.

Who wouldn't want to live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by hot male werecats who are overprotective of their females. This book was one of my very first books. I have read this one so many times and I never get bored with it. There is so much love, romance, action, adventure and some sadness but it’s just amazing x
