Loved it! I was originally going to give it 3 stars because I didn't quite understand the monster's actions vs thoughts, but then I remembered that Victor was an unreliable narrator so it all made sense. I wonder how many parts of the actual story Frankenstein may have left out just so Walton would pity him.

The ending was quite underwhelming, but I loved how the book reflected people's worries at the time.

This was nothing like what I expected. Also, I would totally read a full book about the Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley, Lord Byron, Mary' step-sister villa vacation that led to the writing of this book.

I see why this book is so popular now! It was so very engaging and a really good read!

I knew a few of the misconceptions going into this book (Frankenstein is the doctor and not the creature, and so on) as well as a rough summary of the book going into this read. However, it no where near encompassed the actual story. The humanness of the creature Frankenstein made and the resulting tragedies that followed are so different from how I imagined it would play out and I love this version so much better

(for the record: Frankenstein is a bit immature and awful and could’ve possibly showed a bit more empathy…also how does he fall sick for months every time something goes wrong!)
