The story and the characters weren't that great. The story is important but how he wrote it and the feel of the characters didn't connect with me. His books all have the same feel.

While I enjoyed this book, I did miss the multiple perspectives that I love from most of Gratz's other books. I learned a lot about the attack on Pearl Harbor and could definitely get a sense of panic and horror through the pages. I also appreciated Stanley's character and that Gratz did not stray away from the prejudice that Japanese Americans were subjected to. Overall, a quick read that was action-packed and informative. Still can't go wrong with a Gratz book.
