I’m down for Alan Gratz any day, and I will probably always buy his books for middle schoolers. He churns out books so fast… the quality of the writing is not great.

I struggled with the unrealistic arc of the main character’s trauma, especially after all he experiences in the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

This book has value for middle grade readers who are interested in WWII and internment.
