This was one of those easym fluff reads, so that was nice. I liked the characters, but wanted more of the mom and less of the daughter. Of course the point of the book is to show each person's reaction and feelings to the same situation, so I can't argue with the formula. It may be that I've been reading too many books that go back and forth between characters every other chapter. I even found that I wanted a bit more of the father. Hey, maybe I've just had enough of my own new-to-teendom daughter lately!

I loved Good in Bed and read it when it first came out. I haven’t read this authors work since then but this book appeared in my little free library and I grabbed it unexpectedly (despite my longer than life bedside table TBR). Turns out it was exactly the book I needed. I felt seen a little (as a parent which is so often complicated and also not at all - all at once). The ending was unexpected and I got a good cry in. It’s a beautiful book.

Did NOT like the defining twist at the end. Very artificial.
I thought the way this book was written was very clever, from both the perspective of the mom and daughter. It made me think about my relationship with my own mom during my teenage years, and thank the heavens my mom didn't hover as much as Candie. Good story, it was funny, and the ending wrought real emotion for me.
The beginning was horribly slow and I had such a hard time getting through it. The only reason I pushed myself was because a. I paid for the book and b. because I've always enjoyed the authors previous books. I'm so glad I kept reading because the ending completely took me off guard. Very sad but it made up for the slow beginning.
I had to read this because I really liked Jennifer Weiner's characters from Good In Bed. This was good chick lit, but a little bit of the mother/daughter conflict with her 13 year old daughter was a bit cliched. Quick read, get the kleenex out!
It was finals time and I needed something like candy.
