Excellent book. Light, fun and easy to read with heavier moments sprinkled in to keep it realistic and engaging. A well done book by Jennifer Weiner
Not her best and am not looking forward to the next one that comes out in July. I think its hard to have a book deal and be required to write. This one didn't have a lot to say for it.

From Manhatten To Stars Hollow TBR
Relationship between Carmie, Joy and Bruce is very similar to dynamic between Lorelai Rory and Christopher.

Moderate: Abandonment
I would say that Bruce and Carnie's relationship counts as abandonment since Carmine raised Joy as a single mother.

Very coming of age story. Book was a bit more religious than I anticipated. I enjoyed the first book more but this one had a good ending.

I procured an advanced reader copy of this title in a couple of days, being so excited for the sequel to one of my favorite books ever. Cannie is a great heroine and I couldn't wait to revisit her 13 years after the birth of her daughter, Joy.
While initially I was a bit disappointed, "Certain Girls" is a fast read, and anyone looking for a continuing story of Cannie, Joy, Peter and the rest won't be sorry. While I don't want to give up any spoilers, I sobbed like crazy through my last half hour of reading, proving there's a lot of emotional connection to Jennifer Weiner's characters.
I highly recommend "Certain Girls" to anyone who enjoys an excellent story, and encourage you to get to know Cannie first in "Good In Bed".

This book had the witty sarcastic style I've come to expect from Weiner's work. The characters are multidimensional and realistic. This book had the added interest of being written from two different points of view.
While I began to fear the future of being the mother of a teenager as I read this book, I was unprepared for the emotional journey it took me on during the last several chapters. Have Kleenex handy.
